Getting to and from harbor kind of sucks getting here. Room is ok. Pool is too warm. Probably better staying closer to harbor so you don’t have to take a horse or walk 35 min in the heat. I don’t think the place is worth staying just for the “party” which was kind of calm for a Thursday night

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in SE Asia! A bit far from the downtown area, but Izzy & Billy know how to keep the party going and took care of me as a solo traveler. Activities every night but no obligation if it’s not your scene. Spacious rooms, very clean bathrooms, good food, and a clean pool - plus beachfront sunset views!

Had an awesome time at mad monkey. Staff were the nicest people I had ever met and made the stay super fun. Food was phenomenal and the vibes were top tier. I cannot explain how much the staff improved our time in GILI T. Especially ary, he was the nicest and best bloke I have met in a very long time and our group saw him as a good friend even just in our short stay. People like him make the holiday just so much better. Took us to the best locations watched the sunset with us and even played drinking games. One of a kind place and a one of a kind staff. 10/10 would highly recommend!

Losing a star because I don't agree with the booking system. It hard for me to fathom that the price of an extension can go up compared to the previous nights, since they have no extra work, and it's just pure income. Besides that the experience was very typical Indonesian for me. The staff is friendly but it feels like there's a disconnect. Something i didn't have in other countries. Anyways, I'm still giving them an excellent score because it's a good, well run hostel. And it's a quiet area of this crazy island.

I had an amazing stay at Mad Monkey! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with anything I needed. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The common areas were great for meeting other travelers, and the location was perfect – close to all the main attractions but still quiet enough for a good night's sleep. I especially loved the vibes and izzy is the best . I highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Had an absolute blast at Mad Monkey hostel. The rooms were simple and exactly what you want. The food was very good and staff were excellent, they kept the vibes up at all times. We had such an amazing time in Mad Monkey. Just finished our stay in Mad Monkey & we had an absolute ball. Between the location & activities in the hostel it was a great spot to stay. I had an amazing stay at Mad Monkey Hostel! The food was absolutely delicious, and the entire property was clean. What stood out to me the most were the organized activities by the staff, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Had the best time at Gili T. Mad monkey hostel is across from the beach so we had the most amazing sunsets every evening. We also took part in a pop quiz which was really fun and there was music and dancing each night. The vibe of the hostel was great, would come back again! Billy was so helpful throughout our stay and helped us with everything, from booking snorkelling to getting transport etc. The team are so helpful and friendly, felt like a family 🙂

Mad Monkey was the best experience at a hostel I’ve ever had! Dan was an absolute legend made us feel welcome as soon as we got there he even played some beer pong with us, went to the trivia night on the first night and met more great people, then went on the snorkeling tour with the mad monkey team on the next day, alpha and art our guides were awesome and knew exactly where everything was and made sure we saw everything, later that night was a Mexican family dinner that rolled into a music quiz (which my team won 🥇) which was basically karaoke and a laugh, they also have 5 minute specials at the bar which is hilarious. Thank you guys so much.. I’ll be back..

Pipi was the heart and soul of the hostel, and the maddest monkey of all. She was fantastic.The bar staff were amazing as well as the rooms.Unfortunately the music was played at 110db which is more than the safe threshold for human ears to tolerate and if they don’t get this under control people will get permanent hearing damage. Music should not exceed 90db. I had sore ears and headaches for days

Had a beer tournament which was so much fun picking sides and screaming and cheering! We stayed here for 10 nights and we were certainly ready to leave when those 10 nights were up! Hostel bathrooms were disgusting, never saw staff cleaning them and they felt gross. We booked a deluxe dorm thinking we would be further away from the noise so we could join in on the fun as & when we please, but we were wrong. Our room was 5metres from the speakers so every night that we wanted to just chill, we instead had to listen to really really loud music til late which wasn’t ideal. Wouldn’t stay here if you like a mix of party and chill as this place is just constant party but not in the good way… I found it a little cringe and very much newly 18yr old vibes. Location was also awful, minimum 20mins cycle to restaurants, bars, clubs etc which just became very annoying. Seeing as they’re the other side of the island you would think they’d offer good pricing on the bikes too, however we rented bikes from the other side of the island for 20k less than what these guys were offering. Wouldn’t recommend!

We stayed at the hostel for 3 nights and chose to book one of the private rooms, which was lovely. Generally this hostel was super clean, staff was very welcoming and friendly, food was a dream and if you like to party it's probably the place to be (but be warned that the music is quite loud and starts already in the late morning).The only thing which was a little unpleasant was the start. We checked in and the very first time we used the key to lock the door it broke immediately (and no, we didn't use a lot of strength to turn the key). Unfortunately, we were immediately charged for this (you have to pay a deposit in case of loosing the key when you check in), which kept us wondering if this happens quite often.

Unfortunately music was always the same… when you stay 5 days its super repetitive and they did not allow guests to ask for songs or different music…The bungalow was quite nice but was missing some amenities… no sidebed tables, no mirror (only bathroom), no chair in the table…The rest was quite nice! The best party hostel on Gili T. Rooms aren’t quiet but its a non stop party until 11pm. Highly recommend and plus you cannot beat the sunsets. They are amazing.

It's a nice hostel but it is very far from the center where everything happens. It's a party hostel but the parties generally don't take place there so at the end we had to walk 30-40 mins to downtown (one way, where the port also is). There are no motor bikes so the only options are the horses (which I would strongly advise not to take) and bicycles.The common area is nice, very social, with volleyball court, beer pong tables and there is free water to fill the water bottle. There is a good (but expensive) restaurant. The pool is nice but quite dirty. The rest of the hostel is clean.

Stayed here for a week or more. Nice people work here but management/owner decided to build a 15 foot wall across the street on the most beautiful stretch of beach I have ever seen simply to damage the business of the amazing Sexy Bar Hut. People were migrating over there for the authentic chill vibes and friendliness or the people who work at Sexy Bar. Mad Monkey should focus on why people are leaving their bar and going across to Sexy Bar insead of building 15 FOOT WALLS on the beach. Absolutely shameful!!!!

Best hostel I have stayed at yet. The staff were amazing (especially Linda) and made sure that we had an amazing time. Different events were held each day to get involved in, and there was always so many deals on drinks. Location was abit further from the other side but hiring bikes was so easy at any time of the night and it was a fun activity to do. Highly recommend if you are coming to gili T!!!

While I anticipated some noise staying in a party hostel, I ended up in a charming wooden log hut. However my room was directly below others—amplifying every sound making it difficult to sleep. Additionally, its remote location (a 30-minute cycle ride) from the main attractions made me feel isolated. Regrettably, these factors led me to cut my trip short.Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the snorkelling trip which they anrranged and I appreciate Linda for her vibrant energy welcoming new guests. She was the highlight of my short stay there. ❤️

Amazing hostel, very social with great staff. The rooms are very clean with comfy beds. I stayed in a dorm (3 beds). There’s a lovely orange cat just hanging around which is always a plus. There are activities every night in which people actually participate. You can also book tours with the hostel. The location is a bit far from the main area but you can always rent a bike. The sunsets from the beach in front of the hostel are just beautiful. Pool is great for chilling or just jumping and having fun, the food is delicious and drinks are definitely something you don’t want to miss out. Oh and Linda is the sweetest 🤍 Came there twice and will go again. Definitely recommend.

The hostel was moderate. The laundry service was very bad (we got the dirty laundry back after the second time), water refill only up to half the amount when asked, food was expensive and small, a man was added to a 3-bed dormitory with 2 women, the dormitories were very noisy and there were neither towels (only with an additional charge) nor soap available in the shower. What was positive, however, was the party atmosphere and the reasonably good cleanliness - hence 2 stars.

This is located towards the left side of the port. Quite far from the center of the city where all the parties happen and all nice cafes, restaurants and massage parlours are located, especially to cycle back and forth. I booked here seeing the reviews in Google. I booked for 2 days. Since we came in a ferry a bunch of ppl arrived at this property at the same time. Mostly foreigners and us are a couple of Indians. The staff seemed very welcoming to other guests for their check in and when it was our turn they seemed rather rude and careless. One of their staff went to the other group and started explaining about the activities happening the following day and if they would like to book those activities but no one bothered informing or asking us. There's no water bottle available here to drink water. Others were giving their empty water bottle to get filled the staff were happily doing it and when we gave the bottle to get filled they used to make a grumpy face. Y run a hostel if you can't be inclusive. We pay the same money that others pay. I have stayed in more than 18-20 hostels around the globe but this experience was rather bitter. If you're planning to travel solo and if you're an Indian I'd say you rather skip. I shifted to a different stay the very next day.

We had the most amazing time at Mad Monkey! The prices were so reasonable, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that good times were shared by all. The highlight of my stay was without a doubt the snorkeling tour to neighboring islands Gili Meno and Gili Air, and our tour guides Linda and Billy were some of the best guides I’ve had for any excursion ever. They made sure that the vibes were high, and that everyone was safe and accounted for at all times. Linda and Billy, you guys ROCK! I will definitely be back to Mad Monkey Gili T 🤘🏼

I wish I could leave a separate review for the bar/restaurant as the food and service is pretty bad but the hostel is one of the best mad monkeys. Ordered breakfast and food there but it was disgusting.. even coffee was not fresh and they poured it from a syrup bottle. The yogurt from the place next door was 10x better than the smoothie bowls. First and last time we had food there during our week stay on the island. Otherwise, the hostel itself it great!! Right on the beach like the photos. It is located on the other side of the island about 35 mins walk from the harbour and the Main Street area..

One of my favourite mad monkeys I’ve stayed in. All the staff were so lovely. There’s loads to do there and everyone is super social. Only bad point is it’s quite far from the port to get to and from the main area of the night life but everyone in the hostel is in the same situation so isn’t really a problem.

Rooms are nice and clean. I like that there’s only 3 people to a room however curtains would have been nice. Location wise, it is right on the beach which is great however it is in the other side of the island to the port and the rest of the bars. Service was amazing, the staff are so lovely and helpful. Special shout out to Linda who made the stay extra enjoyable with her bubbly personality. They host events every night which is a great way to socialise and meet other travellers.

It was ok but I think we got unlucky. Our room didn’t reach the WiFi and our door got jammed twice so we were stuck inside for periods of time. The food is pretty good & the hostel organises lots of events, making it social. The major problem is the location - it’s on the other side of the island so it’s near nothing. If you want to go out it’s a 40 minute walk to the bars

There are many hotels and hostels in the area that are the same price as a private room here and they are waaaay NICER, better run, and cleaner. Customer service was stingy. People are socializing all over this island, there are tons of cools spots, so I wouldn't worry about missing out at the Mad Monkey.

Yeah! go for it, is super nice, fun, specially the crew, so fun and they really take care of you, always doing funny things and games, and parties! Definitely book with them the to the snorkeling to the nest, it is crowded, but it is worth it. The only thing is that I did the bike tour haha but I was the only one, so kinda boring, but still, the crew that came with me, super nice TOP TOP! Food was very good, specially the breakfast and the coconut.

It was our second stay at a mad monkey hostel and what can I say we are hooked. Loved the beds, the pool, the food, the music, the activities, the bathrooms and definitely the company. Especially Billy is a party animal and made our stay unforgettable with his dance moves, his good mood and his constant help with everything around the island. The dorms and bathrooms are nice and clean. The A/C works great in the rooms. The staff is all so friendly and they make it a fun environment. Lots of activities are held to keep you busy. The food is amazing and the drinks are actually strong. Only downside is it’s on the other side of the island so it’s far (20 min bike ride) from all the bars and food places. Enjoyed my stay so much I might go back

Wow! I had an incredible experience here, I watched so many sunsets and so many waves all sat in the same place looking out onto the sea. This place was out of this world mainly for the whole welcoming and family feel with events on every night. The atmosphere was incredible and hats of to Billy Highlander! This man amongst many of the staff made the experience just that little bit more special. Everyone always felt comfortable and open to new conversations and relationships! I have met so many amazing people from there whom of which some come from my home country. Definitely recommend the beds are so comfy and showers and toilet in one cubicle so very convenient. What are you doing if you’re not at Mad Monkey Gili T!? Recommend 100%

We stayed in mad monkey for 5 nights and would love to have stayed for 5 more. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff are so welcoming especially Billy who greeted us in Irish 🍀 the food is so tasty I recommend the chicken cashew. It’s a really social place with activities every day for everyone to enjoy. Also a special mention to Hardy for his lovely singing voice and Baby boy and Ary for the AMAZING snorkelling trip. We will definitely be back 🤩

Mad monkey is a super sick place to stay in Gili T! It was exactly what I was looking for in a hostel and will definitely be recommending it to my friends. The staff have really good energy, are friendly, kind, enthusiastic and do an incredible job cheating a fun environment for partying, socializing, and meeting new friends. They’re absolute homies. Ary was my favorite staff member, always had a smile on his face and was cool af.They host events every day (my favorite were snorkeling and the beer pong events) that are super fun and being everyone together. It’s also right next to the beach if you wanna have a chill day!I love how the dorm rooms only have 3 beds in them, you have room to store all your stuff with cabinets, and Air conditioning, super stoked on the air con.Stay here. I can’t recommend enough, super stoked on staying here

Well if you are heading out to GILLIE TRAWANGAN island located in the beautiful country of Indonesia this place is a must visit! I did not stay as a guest at the hotel but I did visit multiple nights to enjoy the surprisingly good food and drinks and great service from a very upbeat friendly staff. Multiple drinks on hand, Music and games a pool and all on site. People of all ages (18+) and multiple backgrounds from all over the world this place is simply put "A Good Time!". Clean facility, located on the less active part of the island which makes it a location second to none in the area. For those on a budget looking to meet new friends I highly recommend this place, and for those looking for a Friday night DJ with good vibes, food and great drinks at a very fair price look no further! Avoid if you can! I was told through maps chat I would be able to have food brought to my room as I've been ill and very faint and not been able to leave my room. There was nobody in my dorm to help me either. They said I was to contact them through WhatsApp or call if I couldn't get to the reception. I called both ways numerous times over a hour with no response. I then asked on here to help, which they said it was possible and someone should be with my shortly. Another half hour went by so I proceeded to the reception with no other option. I was told I couldn't have this taken to my room by the staff member at the till after i paid and i tried to sit and eat it there instead however the heat was making me very dizzy. I then ask the staff member at the reception if it can be taken to my room as I feel faint and I was told no. Eventually I was told I could when i showed the chat and went back to my room, when I received the smoothie bowl which I paid 30k for extra fruit (to cure my dehydration) there was no extra fruit. Its been a super unpleasant experience which I could have done without the hassle and extra costs. I was really not happy with the service provided so I checked out early.

The rooms, toilets and showers are very clean and good. The staff (especially Billy) were nice, but it didnt really feel like an hostel besides the party activities they organise. They charge a lot of money for just basic stuff like hot water or extra sauce, which is not common at a youth hostel. The drinks and food were also expensive. That kinda ruined the vibe of a real hostel because they focus too much on making money. Besides that was it a good place to stay at, but keep in mind that it is an expensive place.

I’m probably in the minority with my opinion of this place but I feel like a few things could be changed to make it better.For starters the staff were seemingly very friendly and reasonable when we checked in, took us up to room after offering advice on snorkelling etc - all v helpful.It’s a shame the niceties ended when the rep crossed the threshold of our door who repeatedly made misogynistic comments about girls staying at the hostel.For starters, water is 10k for a refill of warm water from the big dispenser? I’d hope a company conscious of its plastic usage would incentivise refilling bottles, as a bottle of cold water is 5k from the mini mart 1 minute away? Seems daft in my opinion.Secondly, I ran into some problems at the family dinner which I paid for and then wasn’t able to attend as I was so ill in bed. My friends explained this to the team who categorically refused to give a refund - it was 120k which isn’t cheap. This left a bad taste in my mouth… and the food left an equally bad taste in my friend’s mouths (inadequate portion and generally bad considering it was £6!)The next day I waited 1 hour for a fruit plate…Overall I think this site could do with some general lessons in how to treat customers in order to bring it up to the standard of other mad monkeys I’ve stayed at - namely your Lombok Site!!

Mad monkey was really a good place and a good experience. everything is super clean and it was very easy to get to know people here as they also have events happening everyday. what made it even better was the staff. super welcoming and they really take time to get to know everyone and made us feel like we were a little family. we were supposed to stay for 5 days but ended up extending everyday for 4 days more and still wanted to stay longer. see you again soon mad monkey;)

The staff completely made this trip for me, especially Billy. They all have such good energy and take the time and effort to get to know you and make your experience better. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The bar has great vibes and there’s always something happening, it’s very easy to meet people here! The location is a bit far out but one of my favourite experiences was cycling around the island which I wouldn’t have done if I was on the other side. It’s nice and secluded so you can come home without being close to all the madness. The snorkel tour I went in with the hostel was so fun and the guide made sure we all seen turtles. Another shout out to Riska for making this day out so much fun! Overall I had the best time at this hostel and would definitely return!

I had the best experience at Mad monkey. Massive shout out to Billy and Dony who work there. They are so funny, helpful and hard working. I loved spending time at the hostel and laughing with the staff. The tents are INSANE and the facilities are incredibly well maintained. The showers/loos are constantly cleaned. The food is 10/10 and the events in the evening are so social and good to meet people. Once again, shout out to Dony and Billy. They make the hostel amazing!!!

Would definitely recommend this place, very clean & spacious rooms, friendly staff, great food at the bar and the facilities there like the pool, bar and volleyball Court were great way to meet people. Music was off by 10:30 every night which is great for a good night's sleep or you can go out if you wish. The only thing that needs work is the toilet/shower facilities, taps were always broken and leaking/not clean and the showers had awful water pressure but overall great place!

The rooms and bathrooms are the tidiest I’ve seen in a hostel. Food at the hostel restaurant was delicious could happily eat breakfast, lunch and dinner there. I run many hostels and i strongly feel about this opinion; and have been following mad monkey's online presence for a few years, was quite excited to be there, finally came and had a sheer disappointment:1. For the price we paid, 800,000 for a night for a tent with shared bathroom it's totally not worth it.2. We were 2 people, and we didn't get 2 glasses of water for free, with a clear no even after we came sweating in bad heat. I was surprised to see the cold response from the staff for basic services like water.3. Food, they don't have a lot of menu and are located in a far away location from the main gilli market too and whatever is available, it's like over priced with the kind of services they have, dirty, uncleaned tables for hours.4. Fake warmth from the staff. It didn't feel authentic.5. It's known as a party hostel, which is not different from any other hostel, people are busy drinking on their own tables and no curation for social activities without money6. Even the beer pong is charged for 1,20,000, and they keep over selling all the time.7. A sheer disappointment for the price and over-all experiencePros:1. A beautiful sunset from the beach

This is a really great Mad Monkey, friendly and fun staff, nice clean air conditioned rooms, and many toilets. There's always something happening so it's easy to make friends, it's also right in the beach. The one downfall for some, would be that the location is on the other side of all the action. But in other ways, it could be nice to be able to escape to mad monkey to go to sleep. Over all 5 stars!

Staff was amazing, pretty much the only reason the stay was worthwhile. We stayed on a Saturday, and based on other reviews we expected more of a party vibe. However, the entire place was extremely dead, and everything was shut down at ten pm. People weren’t even allowed to go in the pool anymore (saltwater btw). The location is also extremely secluded, and definitely isn’t worth the bike ride. Save your money and just come for a little bit to hang out with the staff.

The vibe of the hostel is nice. The pool is saltwater unfortunately. They have a happy hour, but when I asked for three different cocktails for the price of two (the sign literally says "buy two, get three") they were to lazy to make three different ones, instead they actually give you the same cocktail three times, which doesn't really make sense to me, since other people also order other cocktails so they have to make different ones and the bar wasn't even busy so they would have had the time to make them, but they didn't care. Drinks were still okay though. Also the showers lack pressure and aren't really hot. We came back on a Saturday night and the hostel was already dead around 1pm. No party nothing. But now comes the annoying thing. The aircon and fan is so loud at night plus you can't turn off the light (see picture) so you can't really sleep good. Not being able to switch of the light is just annoying and switching it just changes the brightness, so no dark room at night. All in all 3 Stars makes it an okay experience. I think there's definitely more valuable hotels.

Really loved staying there. Wanted to stay for 2 nights but extended 3 more.It is not located in the party area which is nice because it’s calm and you can just rent a bike and go everywhere in 15 minutes.Its also perfect if you are traveling alone, staff there is amazing and will help you with anything and will always be so polite & friendly. Also the food is really good. Sometimes the music is a bit loud, but that’s why we came to Mad Monkey anyway. 100% would come back!

5 stars, because the hostel is what it's marketed to be: a party hostel. I stayed in room with 3 beds and it was quite comfortable. There are plenty of showers and toilets for everyone to use. There was always hot water except for Friday night, when there was NO water at all for about half an hour. Not a big deal but it annoyed me a bit at the moment. I met great people in this hostel and the party atmosphere was on point at any point of the day.However, the wifi didn't work in the rooms, only in the bar area 🙃I guess that's fine if you only want to party, but for me as a digital nomad, it was very annoying. The staff tried to help me figure it out, but at the end suggested that I go to a café somewhere and work from there. They denied to give me a compensation for the money I would spend on a beverage while I'm there. The bar area has loud music playing constantly so working from there was not an option either. Consider this of you need to work while at this hostel.Another thing to consider is that the hostel is on the "wrong" side of the island if you want to go partying and clubbing.Every Friday they organize a foam party which was so much fun!Overall I had a pleasant stay and the staff was very friendly.

I had a great weekend at Mad Monkey in Gili T. I stayed in one of the TeePees and it was pretty cool! The whole vibe of the hostel made me feel like I was at a beach club with the pool, beach and DJ. The food is great and affordable with a great happy hour! The location is right in front of the beach but you'll probably want some water shoes if you want to get in the water when the tide is high. It’s in a great location on the sunset side of the island but it's not near the boat harbor. You’ll need to get one of the TukTuks to take you to the hostel, you can’t walk. Once at the hostel you can rent a bicycle to ride around the island. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely return!

The staff here are so friendly! It was a cool mix between chill & party vibes. The pool / bar area is great for lounging in the sun, drinking, eating & chilling in the pool. The tents & bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Pretty cool hostel experience overall.We did the snorkeling tour with Mad Monkey & it was one of the best experiences we had in Gili T! Andi & the boat crew were so fun but made sure we were all safe which was good!

I love Mad Monkey Gili T. The best hostel and definitely the hostel I’ve stayed at the longest. Initially planned to stay for just 2-3 nights, but ended up staying for almost 1.5 week, all because of the amazing vibe to meet people, great party atmosphere and with its location on the best spot to watch the sunset. The staff is absolutely great and go the extra mile. Andi, Devi and Kiki are so nice and especially Budi who gets everyone in an enthusiastic mood and made sure everyone had a great time. It’s located on the other side of the island, but it’s definitely worth the nice bike ride there. If you like a good party I would 100% recommend this place. Rrrrrrr
