Customs & Etiquette
- People don’t typically shake hands when they meet, instead they offer a “nop” — a slight bow of the head with their palms together
- Remove your shoes before entering homes (and even in some restaurants and shops)
- Do not touch a monk (especially if you’re a woman)
- Public displays of affection are generally frowned upon

Mad Monkey is just 5 kilometers and 15 minutes from the Luang Prabang International Airport. A private taxi to Mad Monkey should cost around 60,000 LAK or $6.75 USD per car (this can be split between multiple people). To get transport, go to the taxi stand inside the terminal building after you exit the baggage claim area of the airport.
The bus station is about 1.5 kilometers from Mad Monkey and will take around 20 minutes on foot. You can also get a tuk tuk, which should cost around 30,000 LAK.
