Headquarters Cebu (Coworking Cafe)

Headquarters Cebu has a bit of a different vibe. As more of a study and chill or work and chill sort of area, HQ isn’t as professional of a feel and that’s exactly what it’s going for. A big differentiator for Headquarters Cebu is the fact that it’s open late — really late. Most coworking spaces close up shop around 7 or 8 p.m. while Headquarters Cebu is open till 4 a.m. every day of the week. Got a last minute paper or project to finish? Working a long night for a business proposal? Headquarters Cebu is the place to go. If this is something that’s really important to you, be sure to check out The Workplace Cafe Cebu mentioned below! They’re open late too! As they state on their Facebook page, Headquarters Cebu was a concept for an MBA thesis that was eventually turned into reality.

An interesting offer that may or may not be available elsewhere is that their monthly services include a postal address, so your business mail will be accepted by them and distributed to you daily. Also, if you happen to be traveling to Manila, their sister coworking space allows you to use their facilities for free.

The Workplace Cafe Cebu

This may be the only cafe/coworking space available in Cebu City with a designated napping area. Dubbed the “Power Nap Station,” The Workplace Cafe Cebu offers sofas, pillows, and bean bags for your relaxing time. Also offering fast wifi, easy access to power outlets, and a conference room, The Workplace Cafe Cebu is a hybrid cafe/coworking space. Why work as a digital nomad in Cebu City?

The digital nomad trend is getting larger and larger worldwide as many people figure out ways to make a living from a remote location. As such, Southeast Asia as a whole is becoming a huge hub for these types of people as it’s developed enough to have the lightning-fast internet required for such a job but still has a very low cost of living. Cebu City specifically offers the internet and the cost of living advantage as well as an amazing climate, easy access to beautiful islands and beaches, waterfalls, and mountains. In addition, unlike most other destinations in Southeast Asia, English is widely spoken by the locals so communication issues aren’t prevalent. This is especially important when making business decisions and having business discussions. Often other countries in Southeast Asia such as Thailand have problems arise when the language barrier comes into play.

Be Aware of Labor Laws

Note: This article is not legal advice in any way. We are not lawyers. We are only offering our humble opinion.
We do suggest that you check the specific labor laws for any country you plan on working in. Laws can differ based on your country of origin as well, so be sure to check information that is only relevant to your situation. If you’re caught working illegally, it’s possible that you may get a slap on the wrist but it’s also possible that you will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Be sure to do you research and understand what you legally can and (more importantly) cannot do while living in Cebu City or anywhere in the Philippines. It’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to labor laws.
