Healthy Vegan Desserts: Bodhi Tree Cafe
Bodhi Tree Cafe strictly serves Western and Thai vegetarian dishes, but vegans will be pleased to hear that there are also many of egg, butter, milk, yogurt, and honey-free finds on the menu, as well. Lotus is the heart and soul of the kitchen at Bodhi Tree Cafe, and she and her staff of all women will certainly make you feel at home as you indulge in the sweet finds here. The long-term goal of the cafe is to create a community made up of like-minded human beings, made up of both locals and travelers alike. The team here also wants to bring positive change in the world with good food and healthy practices that help both the humans and the planet they call home.
The menu features a wide array of dishes that are both vegetarian and vegan, but one thing that sets this cafe apart are the many delicious and animal product-free desserts they are dishing out. Check out the chocolate brownie for only ฿60, or instead indulge in a delicious Thai favorite: the pumpkin in coconut milk (฿50). There is also banana with coconut milk (฿50), raw and vegan mango and coconut cheesecake (฿100), and mango with sticky rice (฿80). Vegan and Gluten-Free Desserts: Cat House
As one of our favorite restaurants in all of Chiang Mai, we were not surprised that Cat House was equipped with plenty of vegan desserts in addition to delicious food. This restaurant has one of the most international-friendly menu items in the entire city, with everything from Mexican to Italian cuisine on the menu.
The open-air eatery has a few vegan finds amongst its desserts, and though it may not have the overwhelming number of choices like that found at Blue Diamond: The Breakfast Club, they are impressive all the same. We highly recommend the vegan and gluten-free brownie, coming in at a whopping ฿70 (about $2.10)
