The Top Banana Bar is located in The Mad Monkey Hostel Siem Reap which is located right next door to the Hyatt Hotel in Siem Reap, just down the alley to the right hand side of the hotel.
With good vibes, no trouble and loving feelings you should come only if you are prepared to chill out and have fun. With a large bar, deep sand, a rooftop view over Siem Reap city and an awesome drinks list we are certainly one of the best bars in Siem Reap, visit between 5:30pm until 12am at least once during your stay.

The Yellow Sub

Open from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, the bar is one of the best, with funky plastered walls that feature contemporary artwork. It includes a pool table and a 4th floor whisky bar. Great food is served as well and it is located at the Lane next to the Pub street.

FCC Angkor Bar & Restaurant

FCC Angkor stays open from 7:00 in the morning until midnight. It is located on Pokambor Street near the Royal residence and offers great dishes as well as a variety of wine and cocktail menus. If you are young and a backpacker it is probably not for you, if you are over 35 an wear white shirts and you are a bit posh, this is your gig. This is a very popular Siem Reap bar and is busy from early afternoon until late evening, its a great if not expensive place to eat as well.

Hard Rock Café Angkor – Tourist Bar

The café is located in an old building next to King’s road Angkor, and overlooks the river. It serves food from all over the world and has a bar where live bands play the entire evening. Opening time is 11:00 am until midnight. It is a tourist trap, but if you are insistent on collecting the T Shirt and doing the tourist trail then this Siem Reap bar is for you.

Red Piano – Tomb Raider Cocktail Bar

Don’t worry, you certainly won’t be paying $100 for a cocktail here. However, if your lucky stars are shining down on you, you could be one of the few backpackers to join the esteemed list of fans who get paid $100 to drink one. Red Piano was allegedly Angelina Jolie’s favourite nightlife spot whilst she was filming in Siem Reap.
And with it, she left behind a lovely legacy… The Tomb Raider Cocktail (Cointreau, lime juice & a dash of tonic water).

This bar is one of the more recent additions to the Siem Reap nightlife scene. It’s a god-send for all you sport fans out there. Score! is kitted out with loads of HD screens showing sporting greats from all over the world do battle. Furthermore, it’s just got a fresh set of slate pool tables for you to flash those balls of steel.

Picasso Bar – Funky Little Expat Bar

Mostly frequented by foreigners, the bar offers a wide selection of affordable drinks including wine and fresh sangria. The walls are made of red bricks and decorated with Pablo Picasso prints. It opens from 5:00 pm until late at night and offers daily happy hours. The bar is located at Alley West in the old market area. This is a good bar and we often drink in here, it has a great vibe and friendly atmosphere.
The atmosphere is very cosy and intimate, with stone clad brick walls and a tightly packed U-shaped bar that guarantees everyone gets involved. The happy hour runs from 5pm to 9pm, but don’t be surprised if you end up stumbling out the door at dawn. * recommended

Asana Wooden House – Chilled Bar

Nestled on the Lane, the traditional wooden house contains a bar and lounge area with hammocks and a garden patio. It features cocktails, light bites and tapas. The bar is normally open from 11:00 am until late in the night. Recommended if you are not a backpacker as this is one of the more understated Siem Reap bars out there.
Asana also hosts a daily cocktail class, from 6pm to 8pm. You’ll be taught to create a concoction of classic Khmer cocktails and of course get sorted out with a few drinks during the master class. All in for $15.

Banana Leaf Wine Bar – Early Pub Street Bar

Opened from 3 pm until late in the night, the bar is a great place to view the hustle and bustle of the pub street while enjoying a wide selection of wine, beer and cocktails. A wide range of Khmer and Western dishes is served as well and guests can spend time watching sports programs on a big screen television.

The pub plays live music almost each night and organizes themed parties during weekends. Guests can enjoy great food wine, beer and cocktails as they watch movies or sports. It is normally open from 4 pm to dawn.
The most unique thing about this nightlife spot…

X Bar is home to the only rooftop half-pipe in Siem Reap and probably across the whole of Cambodia! This is for sure where pole grinder, Tony Hawks, would be knocking back his beers when in Siem Reap. The half-pipe is open from 3pm-8pm and you can rent out skateboards and BMX bikes for just $3.50. Get tricky. * recommended

Angkor What? Bar – Late Night Bar & Siem Reap’s Most Popular Club

Promoting irresponsible drinking since 1998. A tagline which certainly resonates with this backpacker favourite on Pub Street. This place will undoubtedly become part of your nightlife ritual whilst in Siem Reap.
The Angkor Wat was the very first on the pub street and is very popular because of the cheap prices as well as great music and dancing that goes on to the early morning hours. It is normally opened at 5 am until very late in the night. This place is not really for the ex-pat crowd and whilst you are here make sure you take your normal traveling precautions to mind your drink and what goes in it. Recommended for backpackers.

Mezze Lounge Bar – Locals Bar

Located in a secluded place at the old market area and decorated lavishly with ambient lighting, contemporary art, string curtains and lush seating areas. Mezze is a great place to relax as you enjoy great Asian and Lebanese cuisine as well as a wide selection of wine and Cuban cigars. It presents 3 belly dance performances every night and is open from 6 pm till late in the night. Special events are often organized on a weekly basis including salsa, dance parties and live bands.

Miss Wong Cocktail Bar – Cocktail Bar

The bar has cherry red walls and gold silk lanterns. During the nights men , women artists and tourists all mingle over a lemon grass infused vodka and martinis. It is located at the old market area behind the Pub Street and opens from 6pm to late in the night. The services are excellent apparently, although when i visited once the waiter was very rude and snobby so I have not been back since. Still if you are a girly girl and do not want to get trashed with the unwashed masses this could be for you.

Karma Bar – Very Happy Relaxed Bar

Full of high fun times and very very relaxed guests, this is a great low profile chilled out bar on Sok San Road. Serving drinks, you can smoke in the bar as well. In terms of chilled out Siem Reap bars this one probably tops our list, it is fantastic and you should check it out, it is a very happy bar with very happy people. * recommended

Peace & Love Bar – One Of The Hiddens Of Siem Reap

If you fused Tom Cruise’s ‘Cocktail’ Blockbuster with the spirit of Bob Marley, Peace & Love would be the glorious produce. Hong, the owner and genius behind his previous Tuk-Tuk Bar, puts on a great show behind the bar.
Peace and love is a stylish yet relaxed cocktail and flare bar with great music and a really cool hipster crowd, if you want to give a second night on pub street a miss consider heading to Peace and Love Bar first and then heading out to YOLO – both are highly recommended as an alternative hipster / funky hostel goers night out. * recommended

Yolo Bar – Alternative Nightlife Scene

Located down the small side street opposite pub Street Yolo bar is an awesome late night bar and one of the Siem Reap bars that you will find a healthy mix of both locals and tourists, firstly the music here is much better than anything you are going to hear on pub street and the crowd here is more hipster / trendy meaning you dont have people throwing up over the dance floor. YOLO and the bars close to it are absolutely where you should be heading after you have seen enough of pub street. * recommended

Temple Club – Nightclub

The only worship that goes down at this Temple is to the liquid gods of Sambuca and Tequila. All hail. Sitting perfectly opposite Angkor What?, this is another nightlife backpacker hotspot for drinking and dancing into the early hours.
The temple club serves as a restaurant during the day and a popular Siem Reap bar at night. It is always busy, especially after midnight and offers live music, and sports on a big TV screen. It is normally open from 10 am to very late at night sometimes past 4 am. The music will leave your eardrums vibrating all the way through till the next morning and the lovely establishment has a dangerously long happy hour, all the way through from 10am – 10pm.

The Famous Khmer Pub Street

If you know the right people in town then they will be able to take you to the best of the best in the original Khmer drinking experience. This is a regular haunt for the Mad Monkey crowd who will often take selected backpackers to enjoy its secrets as an alternative to getting thrown up all over on pub street.
There are Siem Reap Bars and there are Siem Reap Bars, anything around pub street after The Mad Monkey closes is great if you are a backpacker. Have fun and remember these simple rules before you go out drinking. * recommended

Drinking Rules – Advice About Drinking At Siem Reap Bars

#1 – No Fighting

A machete to the neck really does upset your vacation, bar owners in Cambodia know all of the local cops and if you start a fight expect to be quickly dealt with by the owners who will throw you out en-mass. You’re bing warned. It will also cost you a fortune to get out of jail.
There is no need for you to be an aggressive idiot when you are out drinking here and in our experience aggressive people tend to get dealt with quickly, the police in Siem Reap are generally nice friendly people that are there to make sure that you stay safe, however if you become a drunken aggressive idiot they will sort you out, and they have guns

#2 – Happy Happy

Ask around, there are a number of happy places to hang out that serve great Pizza with infused herbs. Don’t buy any class A drugs in town. It won’t be what you think it is, normally its low grade and pretty dangerous amphetamine. Do no risk it.

#3 – Your Drink

You can’t lose sight of your drink, drinks do get spiked, especially in the busy bars on pub street. Stay safe people.

#4 – Getting Back

Do not be wandering the streets alone at night. Like any big city if you are stumbling around drunk with a bulging handbag full of electronics and money you are a target. Be smart. When you leave a bar get a tuk tuk to take you home, make sure you know where you are going back to and make sure you have enough money to pay the per-agreed fair before you get into the Tuk Tuk.

#5 – Hookers

HIV is prevalent in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Be smart, do not go back with a hooker if you are wasted. Trying to take a hooker back to most places, including The Mad Monkey will result in you being asked to leave. It is also very embarrassing for you in the morning.
