Marum Restaurant

Marum is a training restaurant that has a superb local menu at a relatively affordable price. The menu is broken up into distinguishable sections. First, there are the drinks: shakes and freezes, fresh juices and soft drinks, tea and coffee, wine, and a few cocktails. Then, there’s the food: for meat lovers, for veggie lovers, for fish and seafood lovers, sides, and desserts. The menu even labels which dishes are truly Khmer, though you can’t go wrong with any of the menu items here. Also, be sure to check out the onsite shop: Friends ‘N’ Stuff, which sells everything from wallets made out of recycled tires to bracelets made out of old magazines!

Tevy’s Place

Tevy’s Place is a hole in the wall restaurant — but do not let its mundane looks fool you. We dined on one of the best Khmer-style dishes here — but that’s not even the best part. The delicious and filling dish was only $2! All of the servers at Tevy’s Place were warm and welcoming, and it’s no wonder why. This restaurant was set up to act more like a home than a dining venue. A small informational sheet tells customers of Tevy’s struggle and how owning her own restaurant has helped her support herself.
Tevy grew up in Phnom Penh, and she lost her father and three sisters during the cruel reign of the Khmer Rouge. She now takes care of her mother and wants all of her customers to know how much she appreciates each and every visit.
Whether you come for the affordable prices, the delicious Khmer dishes, or to support Tevy, you can’t go wrong by adding Tevy’s Place to your culinary exploration of Siem Reap.
